Booking Conditions

There are no hidden costs on our tours. Everything is inclusive except for flights, drinks and gratuities as well as the odd restaurant meal and road-side snack as stipulated.

Bookings

In order to book a tour, please contact us via the contact form, or email us at ant@africanadventuresafaris.com.

Deposits

We will require a non-refundable payment of 30 % of the tour price in order to guarantee your reservation. The full tour price has to be paid 3 months before tour departure (exceptions apply for last minute bookings).

Cancellations

Should a booking be cancelled by a client due to unforeseen circumstances the tour will be charged as follows:

  • 2-3 months before departure 60 % of the full tour price
  • 1-2 months before departure 80 % of the full tour price
  • 0-30 days before departure 100 % of the full tour price

The client is welcome to find a replacement at no charge, in which case the full amount incl. reservation fee will be refunded. It is advisable to get a travel insurance that covers you in the event of cancellation or curtailment. If for any reason a participant ends a tour early or does not make use of a service that has been included in the price of any scheduled tour, tailor-made tour or tour extension, no refund for this unused portion or service will be made.

Should it be inevitable for African Adventure Safaris to cancel a tour due to so-called Acts of God, e. g. natural catastrophes, political unrest, military coups and the like in order to guarantee the clients' and our own safety, we will keep the non-refundable deposit of 20 % of the full tour price to cover our real costs.

African Adventure Safaris furthermore reserves the right to substitute your tour leader due to unforeseen circumstances. This cannot be held as grounds for participant cancellation or refund. Please note furthermore that for all of our safaris, we make use of various local operators depending on the countries visited.

African Adventure Safaris also reserves the right to cancel the participation of any tour participant based on unacceptable or disruptive conduct.

Rates

Our rates are based on two guests sharing one room or tent. Should you travel alone you will be charged a single supplement. If you do not mind sharing a room with another single traveller, we will do our best to accommodate you. However, if no suitable single traveller is available, you will be liable to pay the full single supplement price.

Group size

All tours will run with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 9 people unless otherwise stipulated. Should the minimum number of people not be available, the tour will be cancelled from our side and all deposits refunded in full.

Health

A comprehensive travel health insurance is compulsory, and you should arrange such in your country of origin. Please provide us with the details of your insurance company, especially their emergency phone numbers, prior to departure. In the unlikely event that medical assistance and rescue be needed on this tour, African Adventure Safaris shall make every effort to expedite this but shall not be responsible for the costs incurred. This is the responsibility of the client.

Please also check with your physician whether your vaccinations are up to date. For some African countries a yellow fever inoculation is compulsory. Malaria precautions are advisable for some countries, especially for Madagascar and Uganda.

Luggage

A detailed packing list will be provided upon booking. You will need a sleeping bag, pillow and towel on most tours. Please note that the maximum luggage allowance on our tours is 15 kg. It is advisable to pack your gear dust-and waterproof in a barrel expedition bag not exceeding a volume of 85 l. Suitcases will not fit into our trailer and are therefore NOT allowed on the tour. A small daypack is advisable for excursions.

Currency

In Botswana and Namibia, local currency can be obtained at ATMs in every town using a Visa or Master credit card or Maestro debit card. In Madagascar and Uganda, drawing money from ATMs is limited to major towns, and the withdrawal limit per transaction might be rather low.

Should you wish to bring US Dollars or Euros (esp. Madagascar) as handy cash, make sure some denominations are small for markets and souvenir shopping, but in East Africa, bigger notes attract a better exchange rate. US dollar notes must be dated 2006 or later as older notes will not be accepted. In Victoria Falls, the local currency is the US Dollar and is available at ATMs.

Participation

Our tours are full participation tours, meaning all individuals in the group will be expected to help with certain aspects of the safari, for example cooking, washing dishes, setting up camp or packing of luggage. We will work as a team in order to ensure that everybody has a great trip.

Nature of the trip

To fully enjoy our tours, you should keep an open, flexible and inquisitive mentality. Conditions in Africa are not comparable to your home country and can cause unforeseen detours, delays, changes in the itinerary and other inconveniences that are out of our hands. It is essential to be respectful and to keep your humour at all times, even to appreciate the differences between home and your host country and regard them as valuable experiences. The degree of satisfaction you feel at the end of the day will largely depend on your capacity to enjoy yourself. If you’d rather be entertained and spoilt during your holiday, then our tours are not for you.

On our tours we concentrate on the off-the-beaten-track destinations where few people venture. Every effort will be made to make your safari as comfortable as possible, but remember that much of the experience is dependent on you, your mindset and ability to tolerate conditions that are different from home.

Group travel and age

Our groups are small international groups ensuring low impact and maximum enjoyment. Remember that a big part of the safari is to experience it as a group, which can be very rewarding. Numerous clients of past trips are still in touch with each other or even good friends. A certain level of tolerance of other – maybe very different – people is nevertheless necessary.

All ages are welcome on our tours. Please note though, that the nature of our tours requires a certain level of fitness, activity and a youthful outlook on life. The tours to Madagascar and Uganda require trekking in mountainous terrain. We believe that age is a mindset, and all you really need to participate is an open mind and a toothbrush!
